Gorgeous, clean home in Vedado. House has large windows, high ceilings and the loveliest porch with the world’s most comfortable rocking chairs. The house is in a residential area, so staying here provides a great opportunity to see local Cuban life up close. There is a market nearby if you wish to purchase fruit and vegetables. About a 10 minute walk to Hotel Nacional and the Malecon. This house is not that close to the city center, but you can walk one block over to Calle 23 to grab a cab. The owner was away in Switzerland so I was not able to meet her; however, Damilca was a wonderful host who was always available if I needed anything. I also insisted on speaking Spanish so that I could practice and she was very patient with my errors. Breakfast every morning consisted of fresh fruit, rolls with butter, fresh juice and coffee. There was also an option to have eggs. I chose the room with the private bath and I’m gad I did as the other two rooms share a bathroom. Water pressure in the shower was OK and it was warm. You have a choice of AC or fan. The window has shutters that can be opened to let in light, but I didn’t use them as one side had a screw loose and I was afraid it would fall off. There is a TV in the living room, but reception was really poor. Great house to rent, especially if you’re traveling as a group. Take time to enjoy the porch. I spent a lot of time there just watching the world go by. My only negative, and here I’m being picky, was the fact that smoking was allowed on the porch. Since I don’t smoke and the other guests did, I was only able to enjoy the porch when I was there alone. If, like me, you prefer non-smoking environment, this may not be the house for you. If you walk to the the end of Calle 19, there is a lovely restaurant named California Cafe that I found on my last night. Also check out Tamy's Cakes, also on Calle 19, for delicious little tarts.

Very Spacious & Clean Dalia was Amazing, I honestly felt like she was my long lost Aunty who’s been waiting to spoil me. Her hospitality was Spot on, and she was very diligent about arriving On time and having breakfast ready. Her suggestions on what to do during our stay was very much helpful. I enjoyed having my own room in the evening to unwind and cool off from the days adventures.

This was the perfect place to stay!! Went here for my bachelorette party and it was the perfect house. Location was great, close to everything and very easy to get cabs. Anabel is wonderful, she made sure we had everything we needed and helped arrange everything, from taxis to reservations. House is super clean with toiletries too! Highly recommended for your trip to Cuba.

Farah's home was wonderful! My best friend and I decided to take a vacation together to celebrate our 30th birthdays, and we could not have been more happy that we chose this place to stay in Vedado. The home was spacious and clean. The bathroom is modern and large, but the best part by far was the beautiful front porch. We loved sitting out there in the morning and in the evening watching the quite neighborhood move by. The host provided two umbrellas which ended up being very useful, as well as a map of the neighborhood with suggested restaurants and sites. One place that wasn't on the list that I would highly recommend is Starbien Restaurante. We had a very nice lunch here one day for 12CUC per person. It has a lovely outdoor seating area, if you can bear the heat, but if not they air conditioning inside. Starbien Restaurante Calle 29 #205 entre B y C Vedado. I would like to note that unfortunately we did have one complication during our stay; we didn't have water for the first two days, but Anabel (the care taker of the house) could not have been more accommodating and helpful. She lives in the neighborhood, and was at our home multiple times a day to bring us water and continually tried to fix the problem. She went out of her way to to make us as comfortable as possible. Farah's mother also showed up to try and help, and reimbursed us some money for your inconvenience, which was unnecessary but very appreciated. Eventually the water was fixed and all was well. The problem ended up being the motor. On another note, Anabel was a fabulous host in Farah's absence. It was a pleasure to get to know her, and she prepares an excellent breakfast!

Perfect place for our stay. Quiet location (we slept really well), but close enough to the main drag in Vedado and easy to get to Plaza de la Revolución, Habana Vieja, Centro Habana, the university, the malecón, etc, either walking (might be a long walk for some people) or taxi. Anabel was extremely kind, kept the house impeccably clean, and made us impressive breakfasts with lots of fruit every morning. She answered questions we had about where to get certain things and how to get places, and helped us make a couple of phone calls. Communication with Farah was excellent before we arrived. I recommend having her arrange your airport taxi because it makes things easier and the prices are competitive with the taxis at the airport. Anabel called for a taxi to take us back to the airport, which was helpful.

Farah's place was an amazing place and the perfect way to start my trip in Cuba. She schedule my transportation from the airport which was prompt and safe. She had someone waiting for me when I arrived. I was given maps and directions about how to get around. Breakfast was amazing! Also, I needed a little bit of a later check out. She was totally accommodating. The location was perfect. Walking distance from restaurants and a lot of sight seeing! I strongly suggest staying here!

The casa is a well-maintained and grand house. We had a nice big bed, the biggest in all of the 6 casas we rented in Cuba. There are 3 rented rooms, and we did not expect to be sharing one bathroom between all the rooms, but it did not present a problem. The other international guests were very interesting and it was fun to share breakfast with them. The shower did not get warm, or have much volume, but we learned that that is inevitable in Havana. Although we expected to be living in a family home, the house is exclusively rented to guests, and the hired woman, Annabelle, who is lovely, was the only Cuban we met there. A very beautiful comfortable space.

We started our trip through Cuba at Farah's place in Havanna. We couldn't have wished for a better place! Within a 20 minute walk we were in the city centre, or we took the taxi for 10cuc. Farah organised a taxi to pick us up from the airport, which worked perfectly fine. The apartment was very nice with a sunny patio, 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, perfect for our group of four. Anabel took great care of us and prepared our breakfast with fresh fruit, omelettes, bread and coffee. We would definitely stay with Farah/Anabel again! Thanks for having us!

  • by Laurie |

This is a great house, and Anabel took care of us like we were family. The included breakfasts are feasts that will keep you satisfied until dinner. The front porch is a lovely place to sit and watch people go by. The bedrooms are comfortable with both AC and fans--I slept like a baby! Would definitely recommend Azucena without hesitation.

¡Muchas gracias! Many thanks to Farah and Anabel for providing a beautiful, comfortable and well-located house. I appreciated the easy communication with Farah and for her help in reserving a taxi to pick us up from the airport when we arrived in Habana. We also greatly apprecaited Anabel's hospitality during our stay. We felt as if we were staying with family or friends. I would recommend this house to my friends if they want to visit Habana, and I would stay here again. Thank you very much!

Farah's place is lovely. It's clean and bright and centrally located. The real gem is Anabel, the local Cuban host who manages the property in the owner's absence. She is a wonderful woman, full of light, energy and generosity. She provided beautiful breakfasts for us, going out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed and doing her best to communicate with the international travelers. She works so hard, keeping the place clean and handling everything going on - it was real Cuban hospitality at its best. Be sure to take special care of her!

« We really enjoyed staying at Farah and Anabel's casa. Breakfast was served each morning and was a perfect start to our day! The area of Vedado is perfect. It was low key, not too touristy and had lots of museums, markets and coffee shops. »

  • by Caroline |

Annabel was really kind and helpful and will answer all your questions about the area :-) The place is an typical colonial house but was refurbished which is quite pleasant, (especially the bathroom). Breakfast is available for free on demand. We thought it was a bit far to walk to the centre but easily accessible by taxi for a few pesos. We had a good time and wish we could have stayed there longer but there was no availability for the last 2 days :-(

We had a great stay at this air bnb - it was perfect to explore the Vedado area of Havana. The room is one of three air bob rooms, so we didn't meet Farah but the housekeeper Annabel was there to meet us on arrival and for breakfasts (great omelettes!). There was an issue with the running water one night, but Annabel ensured it was back on by the following evening so it didn't really cause us any inconvenience. Overall a great stay!

Beautiful apartment in the centre of Vadero. Large rooms and comfortable beds. Good breakfast and helpful, friendly staff (not much English though). The shower takes a while to warm up but the bathrooms are decent Around the corner from Topoly restaurant and a large fruit and veg market but not a huge amount else. The house was the home of a revolutionary, so a group of school kids were outside laying a wreath and singing revolutionary songs. Weidly interesting

My friend and I had a wonderful stay at Farah's colonial home in Vedado. We arrived late from Trinidad and Farah's house helper, Anabel greeted us with a smile. The house is located in Vedado, a gorgeous residential neighborhood in Habana. It is not within walking distance to many of the popular tourist destinations in Habana Vieja so you will need to take a 10 minute taxi to see those sights. To take a taxi you have to walk about 4 blocks up to main avenue and flag down a taxi collectivo who will take you anywhere you need to. Vedado in itself is lovely and definitely warrants time to explore. It was refreshing to come home to this casa after a busy day in the old town. What made our stay so special as was the case, throughout Cuba was the people. Anabel our house "mom" is such a sincere soul. She prepared a delicious breakfast for us in the morning and assisted us with anything we needed during our stay. Farah rents out three rooms in the house. This room shares a bathroom with one another room. The common areas are exactly like the pictures, very colonial and beautiful. There is a nice front porch you can sit and watch every day life pass by. Be sure to ask Anabel how to work the lock on the front door, it's a little tricky but once we knew what to do it wasn't a problem. Book this casa and you will not be disappointed.

  • by Elisabeth |

I think the photos are accurate. The house is very clean and Anabel, the host/housekeeper when we stayed was completely lovely. She made us breakfast in the morning, left us bottled water, and arranged our taxi services. Home is located in a Vedado, a nice neighborhood about 2 miles from old town Havana. 23rd is a main drag that had restaurants (great Iranian spot close by), wifi spot, and bus stop for the tourbus. To get to the sights in the old town we either walked, took a cab (expensive unless you are a good haggler), or used the tourbus that has a stop about a 15 min walk from the house (10 CUC pass for all day on and off trips). I think this is a great alternative to staying in the very expensive old town. I would just make sure to budget extra for transportation or be prepared to walk.

  • by Vito |

Lovely, well-maintained place in Vedado that even has a piano that works! Anabel doesn't speak more than a handful of words in English and my Spanish is interpolated from other languages, but miraculously we had little problem communicating! She had been wonderfully friendly and helpful. Drinking water and breakfast are both readily included. The AC worked as well; though I think I should have crank if up to feel more comfortable. On arrival you might think you land in the middle of nowhere, but in fact it's just meters away from nice restaurants on 23, or if you are lucky, you can find little comfy and less crowded ones nearby (e.g. El Rinconcito). Compared to the streets in Centro, where I moved on to stay the following days, the relatively clean and spacious Vedado neighbourhood gives you a nicer feeling of returning home. If I decide to visit Havana again, this will be in my top list. Tip: the door to the left is NOT the entrance of the B&B. P.S. Please tell Anabel I arrived in the next lodging safely.

  • by Agata |

« Farah's house has a pretty good location for those who want to see Vedado- one of Havana's districts. Since this was our plan we were very happy to stay there. The house is very nice, clean and has all you need. In fact, this was the only casa (we stayed in several) that had warm running water all the time :) There was also a hair dryer in the bathroom which felt like luxury. The neighborhood is very quiet and safe and has a couple of awesome restaurants/bars within a walking distance. Since this is B&B we also had a delicious breakfast there. It was also our last casa before our insanely early flight home and our host helped with taxi reservation. Overall, a very nice place to stay, very comfortable, conveniently located and run by very kind and friendly people. »

  • by Junik |

« The location was ideal as it was close enough to walk to lots of interesting places including restaurants and bars but not so close that it's loud (like old Habana). The house itself is exactly as pictured. VERY clean and well kept. Annabel- the housekeeper was absolutely AMAZING. She provided us with help with anything we needed and made great breakfast every morning. She really made us feel at home. Pro tip for Cuba as a whole- most people don't speak english but will try their best to communicate anyway so brush up on your spanish! »

  • by Sabine |

Herzlichen Dank Sabine.

  • by Shea |

Anabel and Farah were incredibly helpful in arranging our transportation from the airport the day we arrived ahead of time, as well as a taxi to the airport on our day back. Anabel was incredibly patient and kind with our less-than-stellar Spanish (lo siento!), but made for an incredible host providing us with a delicious breakfast every morning and plenty of bottled water and snacks :) The room was just as shown in the photos - clean and tidy, with a personal shower/bathroom, and plenty of storage space to unpack our belongings. Not to mention the brand new AC and slippers as a bonus! The apartment location is in the more residential area of Habana, but that made it very comfortable to walk around at night and had no problem navigating to and from the busier parts of the city. There are also some great paladars and state restaurants in a few blocks walking distance, so you won't need to trek into town every night if you are looking for something closer. Big recommendations for Cafe Mamine and El Cocinero! All in all our trip was absolutely fantastic and made that much more wonderful by Anabel and our fellow housemates, so we couldn't recommend Azucena more ;)

  • by Emma |

We had such a great time in Azucena! The house was fresh and nice, our room was super comfy and having the breakfast included is a good way to meet other guests of the house! Anabel is so nice and we enjoyed practicing our Spanish with her. Farah and Anabel helped us with the taxi from and to the airport, late at night and really early in the morning. Everything was super easy. We loved living in Vedado in a quiet street but close to everything.

  • by Michael |

We had a wonderful time staying at Farah's beautiful house in Vedado. It's in an excellent location, near restaurants on Calle 23 and 5-10 min walk to Hotel Nacional. We especially liked Anabel, who met us with the keys, makes great breakfasts, and helped us with all our questions!

  • by Louise |

The accommodation was located in an excellent part of Havana, in Vedado. The home was clean and everything worked. We were warmly welcomed and breakfast was good, although was late every day (but when your on holiday, it doesn't really matter!). The home is spacious with very good bathrooms, linen, furnishings and appliances. There is a supermarket within walking distance, good restaurants near by. The street was a little noisy but it was not a problem, good to be staying in a local area and with everyday Cubans going about their business. Would recommend to others and would stay here again.

  • by Alex |

Everything was great, the place was just as described. the host was very quick to respond and even though she was not at the house, her associate met me and made sure I was taken care of. The location is great, in a quiet part of Vedado but close to everything in Central and Old Havana. I would happily recommend this to friends and would stay here again!

We spent almost 2 weeks at the Azucena and liked every minute of it. The apartement is great and spacious, the two bathrooms both have everything you need and all the bedrooms have adjustable airconditioning, as well as a fridge and a safe each. When we stayed there Farah was not around but we were welcomed warmly by her mother and Anabel, who took good care of us for the time being. Both were really welcoming, lovely and helped with our every need. The apartement is very clean and gets cleaned everyday if you want, towels and sheets are changed regularly. If you choose to have breakfast made for you, the breakfast is generous and delicious. The apartement itself is situated nicely, with a local market, bakery and juice bar in walking distance as well as a lot of nice paladars and bars. You also find a lot of mapy in several languages and a huge amount of cards from paladars and taxi drivers other guests have left beneed. We can only recommend choosing Azucena!

  • by Sara |

  • by Javier |

A conseiller vivement!

  • by Luisa |

« We spent 3 nights at Farah's place and her partner Yudmila wonderfully took care of everything (including advice on were to go for dinner and which parts of Havana not to miss). The house and room are impeccable, beautiful and refreshingly cool in the Havana summer heat. Breakfast was delicious and rich, shared on a common table with the other guests who were very nice! The communication beforehand was very friendly and efficient with all the information and help we needed. Everything was perfect. »

« We had a very enjoyable stay in this casa and highly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in Vedado. The room is overall very comfortable (there are three total) + Large bed + Very quiet + Two fans and AC (although not sure it works) - Small window, making the room a little dark - No ensuite bathroom but it was right outside the bedroom so that was not a problem The host and the casa are among the best we stayed with in Cuba + Farah was super nice and happy to help with anything, also made us a great breakfast in the morning + Felt like a home more than a B&B, which is always a positive The neighbourhood is residential, very safe and peaceful + Not far from Calle 23, with a lot of bars, restaurants, and places to go out + Somewhat walking distance to the Malecon + We encourage you to walk the streets around the casa as there are lots of small paladars, a market, and many other things to see Some recommendations for visitors to the neighbourhood: El Idilio - paladar at the corner of 15 and G with great dishes and ambiance La Fabrica de Arte - corner of 26 and 11, cultural centre that serves as a club, art gallery, and bar with great spaces to sit and enjoy an evening La Flauta Magica - in front of the US embassy, number 101 between L and M, rooftop bar with great views to the malecon and the US services section building »

The house is very nice with a colonial feel. It is located in Vedado, not far away from malecon and some nice places. The room is clean and tidy, with an AC and ventilation. The bathroom is neat. Ludmilla who received us is really nice and her breakfast is good (eggs, fruits, bread with butter and marmelade, coffee, juice). I overall recommand this case.

You are a very kind and sympathetic housekeeper!Thank you for the amazing Breakfast, good recommendations and help!We are looking forward to visit you again!

  • by Kaili |

« The house is very clean and the location is good, not in the old Havana but a peaceful place. The host was so friendly and care us a lot! Thanks a lot »

  • by Mathieu |

« Our stay was wonderful. Vedado is a great neighborhood and felt like a wonderful break from Habana Vieja. It's a beautiful area and Yudamilla was incredibly helpful and patient with all of our questions. »

This is a lovely house. The rooms are very clean and the beds are comfy. The We were very goof taken care of. The breakfast is nice. You can drink a cuba libre on the porch or read a good book. The neighboorhood is very nice and safe and close enough to the city centre by (shared) taxi or a long walk along the ocean.

  • by Lauren |

Yudmila was a great host. The casa was well located in the residential Vedado neighborhood. The casa was gorgeous, super clean, room spacious. Breakfast was amazing. I would highly recommend!

  • by Katheryne |

Beautiful very comfortable house very well situated in a quiet and safe area, excellent welcoming from Youdmila, excellent breakfast . Two "little trouble" though: didn't realize we had to share the bathroom and toilets didn't work completely.

  • by Christian |

The casa is in a largely residential area of Vedado. At first we thought it would be too far from the things we wanted to do and see in Vieja and Centr but it turned out to be a food place to stay with restaurants and cafes and few tourists. We never met Farah but the casa is well managed by Yudmilla. Breakfast was carefully prepared and generous. The room is small but there are common area to use and a nice front porch with morning sun.

  • by Nicolas |

A recommender Nicolas Bien cordialement,

Beautiful house with nice and clean rooms in a very nice neighborhood in Havana. However the best about this offer were the extremely friendly and helpful hosts!! We would always come again!!

Great accommodations and a great hostess, Yudmilla! She took great care to make sure I was comfortable and that I enjoyed my stay. I would highly recommend staying at Azucena when in Cuba.

What a lovely place! Farah happened to be on vacation during my stay but I happened to meet her later when I was passing through. She's incredibly warm and courteous. Yudmilla, the young woman who cleans and cooks for her, was so helpful in giving me directions. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful: eggs, toasted bread, coffee, fresh-pressed juice, a plate of fruit. It was way more than I could eat. The room was clean and nicely decorated and had an air conditioner that worked perfectly. Nice bedding and towels. It was the best casa particular I stayed in during my two-week trip to Cuba. I can't say enough good things about Azucena Colonial. Like the vast majority of Cuban homes, there is no wifi but you can buy a wifi card, walk a half-mile to 23rd Street, and use it there if you need to email anyone. She has a phone in the home and you can buy a telephone card (be prepared to wait on a long line) and make a call to the U.S. ($1 USD a minute). Unlike staying in a high-rise, there will be auto exhaust fumes, which is to be expected considering most cars on the streets are from the '50s, before the US imposed a trade sanction. Thankfully, there is no smoking allowed in the house so no nasty cigarette smells to contend with -- unlike other places I've stayed in Cuba. The house is in a prime neighborhood, close enough so you can walk to historic areas but if it's too unbearably hot you can catch a cab two blocks away on 23rd Street.

We very much enjoyed our stay at B&B Azucena! It's situated in a nice part of the town and many places which you may want to visit are within walking distance or short (public) taxi ride. It may be a little crowded with six persons but who want's to stay indoors in Habanna? You will want to get your breakfast at Azucena, it was great :-) The people are very nice and helpful, we got many a great tip for places to visit! Special shout out to Yudmilla, the greatest host ever ^_^

    Nous avons passé un très bon séjour dans la maison de Farah. Sa cousine Nela s'est très bien occupée de nous et de la maison, toujours impeccable! Nous regrettons de ne pas parler espagnol et de ne pas avoir pu remercier Nela comme il le fallait. La maison est très confortable, tout était parfait. La Havane nous manque déjà;

Vielen Dank Daniel
